For Gas meters and safety reasons, we cut into the pipeline two meters clear of your property and then divert it to your new desired position.
Applying To Get Your Meter Moved
You can apply for your meter to be re-fitted and for it to be re-linked to the inner copper pipeline. This is required if the inner copper pipeline is within two meters of your electric or gas meter’s new location or position.
Is A Gas Meter Move Simple?
After you have acknowledged our proposal and we have received payment we will arrange a suitable day with you when we can visit you to make the necessary preparations for your meter location change, ready for work to begin.
On the day, we will arrive and complete the modification. If demanded, your current meter will at that time be re-installed after a following visit from our metering engineer.
We will also restore all the dugouts unless requested otherwise.
How Long Will The Meter Move Take?
Each job is unique, and we wish to keep the procedure of preparation to beginning work on location to a minimum. The standard timescales for preparation to labour starting are usually four to six weeks.
Our native depot will contact you by telephone to organise a suitable time to begin work. When this day has been decided, we will send you a preparation letter approving the days for the labour and some helpful advice. Should you require more information, we have staff members waiting to help.
