As a UK leading utility supplier, we provide water connections of all types to reduce costs & timescales. Although water is a precious commodity, it’s always useful to look at water saving tips to not only help save the planet but also to help you stop splashing the cash.
Whatever your motives are for wanting to save water, we applaud you! Take a look at our info-graphic below with handy hints on how to get started to control your bills and save water, costs and energy.
Take showers not baths
A bath uses around 80 litres of water, whereas a bath only uses 30 litres.
Fix those leaking taps
A dripping tap can waste over 60 litres of water each week.
Only wash with a full load
One dishwasher cycle uses up to 50 litres of water and a washing machine cycle uses up to 100 litres of water so putting a half load on is a huge waste of money.
Turn the tap off when brushing
Leaving the tap on when brushing your teeth or washing your face can use 6 litres of water per minute!
Don’t flush unecessarily
Around 1/3 of the water we use is flushed away, so opt for the light flush where possible.
Invest in a washing up bowl
A running tap uses 6 litres of water per minute, so fill up a washing bowl to clean dishes.
Only fill a kettle adequately
Filling only what you need will reduce your water usage & your energy costs too.
Scrap the hosepipe
A hosepipe can use 1,000 litres of water each hour, so opt for a bucket and sponge or watering can.
